Dean's List Inaugural Lectures

Annually, Massey University hosts the Dean’s List Inaugural Lectures, an exciting and innovative event.  The event is designed to celebrate Massey University’s recently completed doctoral candidates who have been acknowledged by all of their examiners as producing an exceptional thesis (Dean’s List Recipient). The lectures celebrate and showcase doctoral graduates who are academically outstanding and who can present their work in an engaging and accessible way to the wider University and the public. The lectures are set to establish themselves as a highlight of the Massey university calendar; the inaugural event in November 2017 was deemed a terrific success by both the audience and those taking part.

The lectures follow the tone and format of the University’s Professorial Inaugural Lectures and provide the very best of our graduate doctoral graduates with a unique opportunity to celebrate and communicate some of the amazing breadth of cutting edge research taking place right across the university.

These prestigious events also reflect the university’s commitment to provide innovative personal and professional development opportunities for its postgraduate research students. Those who are invited to lecture have a unique chance to present their research to the university community, the public, and the media – but it is also a way to make new contacts, develop their presentation skills, and establish themselves as professional researchers.

We look forward to seeing students, staff, and members of the public at the upcoming lectures.

Dean's List of Exceptional Theses

The Dean's List of Exceptional Theses includes theses which examiners deem to be of exceptional quality. Examiners consider the theses as original and unique contributions to research, and outstanding in terms of research and analytical content, quality of expression and accuracy of presentation.

Candidates whose theses are placed on the list have completed their thesis within the allocated time for doctoral study, without any extensions. Therefore, this is an outstanding honour and the candidates’ theses are considered amongst the best in their fields.

Recipients of the Dean's List of Exceptional Theses can be viewed here.
