Shell New Zealand has been a proud conservation partner of Wildbase since its inception (as the New Zealand Wildlife Health Centre) in 2001. Their support allows us to continue to deliver vital care to New Zealand’s sick and injured native wildlife, making a significant contribution to conservation.
Provet, a Covetrus company, is the leading animal health distribution company in Australasia. Established over 30 years ago by a small group of veterinarians The company has a long standing relationship with the University’s vet school and wanted to support the expansion of its wildlife Hospital.
Provet General Manager Angus Gordon said: “As suppliers and business partners to the veterinary profession Provet has an inherent interest in supporting animal welfare and has always supported the veterinary community at large. This project was an ideal opportunity for us to support both animal welfare and the veterinary community."
"Wildbase is an amazing facility which contributes so much to the conservation of some of New Zealand’s most endangered species as well as driving valuable research which further protects species and helps to develop better conservation management plans - we are very proud to be a part of that.”
We are hugely grateful to our Ambassadors. Their passion and commitment is enabling us to reach into the community and achieve a profile and impact that would not otherwise be possible; and supports the vital wildlife conservation work the hospital achieves.l

"I'm serious about conservation and ensuring the survival of our native wildlife. A new hospital will give the Wildbase team the ability to better care for some of New Zealand's most endangered patients."
"Had I not have been a teacher, I would have wanted to be a veterinarian. I have a very strong interest in animals and have seen first hand the fantastic job the Wildbase team do. I support them and their work because it would truly be a shame if any of these unique native animals were lost to us forever."
"New Zealand has some of the most delightful and regrettably, most threatened birds, reptiles and mammals on the planet. Sadly many have a tendency to find themselves a bit broken. It’s reassuring to know that the dedicated and talented team of folk at Wildbase are on hand to patch them up so that they may once again continue on their delightful way."
"I run a bird rehabilitation facility and am pretty experienced in most bird ailments, but occasionally we get sick birds with illnesses we can't identify. The expert knowledge and experience offered to us by Wildbase helps to improve our standard of care, resulting in a better outcome for these birds."
"The limit to their achievement is something that we can help with and hopefully engage others to see the value in helping to create a facility that will provide this wonderful committed team with a greater capability to return to the wild a larger number of our endangered species and wild life."
"When we visited the facility (cupboard) that Wildbase operate from, we realised that the limit to their success in saving and treating our wildlife & endangered species is not the lack of a world class team of committed passionate people but a lack of space!"
