Coming to study at Massey University was my fate and one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Throughout my life I have witnessed and experienced political and social economic injustice. Although I was privileged to grow up in an upper class environment, many members of my family were not. This injustice made me hyperaware that something needs to change, and I knew that the greatest impetus for change is knowledge.

With a strong desire to play my role in shaping a better world I decided to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (Politics) at Massey University.

I moved to New Zealand five years ago and have spent time in Auckland at Taylor’s College and in Palmerston North at Massey University. The New Zealand environment is beautiful and I am always in awe of the radiant blue sky. The people are lovely and respectful and I’ve made friends for life.

Studying politics in New Zealand is particularly great. Being a small country means that it is a lot easier to get in touch with government and councils to gain information, develop connections and participate at a local level. I also enjoy how politics is about developing law and policy and involves all aspects from agenda setting right through to implementation.

As English is my second language at times the learning would be difficult, particularly with the large amount of reading that is required. However, the lecturers at Massey are incredibly supportive and always on hand to answer questions and address any concerns.

After finishing my BA I decided to take my studies further. I am currently working towards a postgraduate diploma and hope to transition on to my masters. It is my dream to become a university politics lecturer and give back to society in as many ways as I can.
