Kavitha graduated BVSc and MVSc from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, India and worked as a clinician in the state animal husbandry department for three years. Subsequently, she worked for a year in her graduating university, teaching BVSc students. Kavitha obtained PhD in Veterinary Clinical Science from Massey University in 2008, having worked on the project 'Studies on renal safety and preventive analgesic efficacy of tramadol and parecoxib in dogs'. Also, Kavitha obtained certificate of the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) from the American Veterinary Medical Association.
