Virtual Open Days

This year we ran Virtual Open Days on 4 and 5 September. If you missed them, you can re-watch our livestream event and explore what Massey University – Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa can offer you.

  • Hear our lecturers present on programmes and chat one-on-one with staff.
  • Get advice from subject experts and ask questions about scholarships, budgeting, life on campus and how to enrol.
  • Experience student life at Massey and take a virtual tour of halls of residence.

Special graduation celebrations

Because COVID-19 prevented us from holding our traditional graduation ceremonies this year, we are holding special graduation celebrations for all those graduates who opted to graduate in absentia, and therefore missed out on a ceremony, to mark this important milestone.

If you believe you qualify to attend these celebrations but have not received an invitation by email, please contact us on

All those who opted to defer their April/May graduation will be included in the graduation ceremonies planned for November 2020 and April/May 2021.

Costs of academic regalia covered

When we notified graduands that our graduation ceremonies couldn’t go ahead, they told us the wearing of regalia was one of the key aspects of graduation they felt they were missing. For this reason, the University will cover the costs of academic regalia hire for all graduates at this celebration.

Format of graduation celebrations

The afternoon celebrations will be an opportunity to bring your friends and whānau onto campus to celebrate your academic success with Massey staff, classmates and other graduates from the class of 2020.

It will begin with an official welcome to congratulate you on your achievement, with the remainder of the afternoon being relatively informal. Guests will be able to mingle with classmates and Massey staff while enjoying entertainment and kai – there will be live music and food and drink available, but it will not be a formal, sit-down event.

Event photographers will capture photos of graduates with Massey staff, friends and whānau, and these will be available for download after the event at no cost.

The event will run throughout the afternoon to offer you maximum flexibility. If you are unable to make the official welcome, you will be able to arrive at any time to get photos with whānau and friends.

The relevant student association on each campus will also host an evening party for graduates and their guests, so you can continue with festivities if you choose.
