Mr Atif studied the institutionalization of academic finance using a Foucauldian theoretical and methodological framework. Specifically, he proposed an approach to the study of institutions that emphasizes the centrality of an institution’s promulgated subject position. Using archival resources to understand the institutionalization of the discourse of academic finance during its transformative phase (1940-1970s), Mr Atif argued that institutions create their subject positions through their space, text, and practice facets.
