An enquiry into the Emotional Well-being of IT employees in India
The Information technology (IT) working environment in India is linked to a variety of factors that has an adverse effect on the well-being of IT employees.The industry is characterized by shift and time related stresses.There are many studies in the past three decades to suggest that the 'nature of work' impacts employee well-being from an organizational perspective. Job stress theories and models explain employee well-being only from an organizational perspective. There is limited research on explaining well-being from an employee's perspective on their ‘society and spirituality’. This thesis therefore explores the effect of societal factors on the various life stages of an IT employee and how the employees use their spirituality as a mechanism to combat work related stress and emotions.This study will add valuable knowledge to practitioners and organizations that employ IT professionals, by identifying practical ways of managing the negative impacts of IT work.
I am Balaji Raju, with eight years of experience in Industry and academia from US, India and Ethiopia. I have completed my MBA from Oklahoma City University, USA and a master's degree in Supply Chain Management from Curtin University, Singapore.
