The purpose of the Pūrehuroa Study Award is to support and encourage timely completion of postgraduate study.
This Award is open to Māori students (part-time and full-time) who are enrolled at Massey University in a Masters or Doctoral programme in 2016, and have re-enrolled by 30 January 2017. Doctoral students are required to have been confirmed into their programme of study; Masters applicants are required to have a B Grade Point Average or above. Applicants are also required to provide evidence of involvement in an activity that supports Māori advancement.
Pūrehuroa Awards may be approved up to a maximum of 4 (four) times.
Note: Full time staff of Massey University and recipients of any scholarship of over $22,000 per annum are not eligible to apply for this Award.
Successful applicants may also be asked to confirm their availability to participate in at least one local activity that is aimed at supporting other Māori students. You may be approached sometime throughout the 2017 year.
Applications are to be made via the Pūrehuroa Māori Postgraduate Awards online form by Friday 6 January 2017.
You will need to provide a brief profile of yourself, including a good quality photo, which may be used for publicity purposes.
The Award amount is dependent upon the number of applicants in any one year and the funding available.
If you are successful for an award, the Award will be paid directly to your Massey fees account by 24 February 2017. Where incomplete information has been provided, payment will be delayed. Note that payments will not be made into personal bank accounts.
Applications will be considered by the Acting Director Māori and AVC Māori and Pasifika, and all applicants informed of the decision by 20 January 2017.
