Possible First Year

You may know you have an interest in Security Studies but you are unsure about what courses might complement this interest or lead on to a second major, or minor. The following list provides possible choices for interests in Economics, Politics, Sociology or Defence Studies to help with planning your first year of study. A usual full-time workload for first year is eight courses; four courses in Semester One, and four courses in Semester Two.

Requirements

The major in Security Studies is not just for people employed in the military, it is for anyone with an interest in the various aspects of security, for example, security issues, strategy, terrorism and the law to name just a few areas of study.

Major Requirements

A major consists of 135 credits in Security Studies.

Minor Requirements

A minor consists of 75 credits, including 294.180294.280; 15 credits of 294 prefix courses at 300-level; 15 credits of 294 prefix courses at 200- or 300- level; and 15 credits at any level from the Security Studies schedule.
