Funding priorities are determined each year by the Pro Vice-Chancellor and a dedicated Development Fund advisory committee comprised of Business School staff members.
The Brian Murphy Memorial Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships for postgraduate students completing research in marketing, business ethics or future studies at Massey University. Acknowledged as a leader in his field, Professor Brian Murphy spent more than 40 years exploring research methodology that would keep him at the front of his field both as a teacher and in practice. Sadly, he passed away suddenly in October 2006, when he was acting head of the Department of Commerce at the College of Business on the University’s Albany campus.

Business consultant, philanthropist and Massey University alumnus Matthew Abel has provided funds for two endowed chairs over the next 25 years – the MSA Charitable Trust Chairs in Marketing and Finance over the next 25 years.
The first Chair in Marketing is Professor Harald van Heerde, currently ranked 8th in the world for marketing research by the American Marketing Association (and the only Australasian academic in the top 50).
The first Chair in Finance is Professor Ben Marshall, currently ranked in the top 1 per cent of research authors on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) (dedicated to the rapid dissemination of research globally).

In 2014, The Warehouse Group (TW Group), New Zealand’s largest listed retailer, funded the Massey University Sir Stephen Tindall Chair in Retail Management.
Associate Professor Jonathan Elms came to Massey from the University of Stirling’s Institute for Retail Studies to take up the position, and lead Massey's unique Bachelor of Retail and Management.
